Heena Brahmbhatt
Dr. Heena Brahmbhatt has trained as a clinical infectious disease epidemiologist and was an Associate Professor with Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHBSPH) for over 18 years before joining USAID-South Africa. While at JHBSPH, Heena was the co-Deputy Director for the Research to Prevention (R2P) Program, a USAID-funded task order under the Project SEARCH IQC which oversaw over 30 HIV-applied research programs in 18 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe, and she was the co-Director of the International Core of the Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) at Johns Hopkins University.
Heena has over 20+ years’ experience working on HIV/TB and malaria prevention studies in sub-Saharan Africa both as a researcher as well as an international consultant with UNAIDS/UNFPA and has been the principle investigator on several HIV and TB prevention trials in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Heena continues to be an adjunct Professor at JHBSP where she teaches an online course to graduate students on HIV prevention in children, adolescents and women. Heena has authored over 70 peer reviewed scientific publications, 6 reports (UNAIDS/UNFPA), 2 book chapters and has presented over 120 abstracts to scientific meetings.
